H.P. Lovecraft

The Mythos Murders is based on the writings of H. P. Lovecraft. Almost ninety years after his death, his influence continues to expand. Authors who’ve used the universe and creatures he created include his friend Robert E. Howard (the creator of Conan), Clark Ashton Smith, and August Derleth. These four, along with others in “The Lovecraft Circle,” freely borrowed ideas and creatures from each other, resulting in what is now the wonderful universe of “The Cthulhu Mythos.”

Video games have brought the young to Lovecraft. Millions now play games with and against  Cthulhu, Nyarlathotep, and other Lovecraftian deities.

He gave credit for inspiration to Poe and to the fantastic Anglo-Irish author, Lord Dunsany. Now, Stephen King credits him, as do filmmakers such as John Carpenter and Guillermo del Toro.

H.P. Lovecraft's Mythos has also been the inspiration for countless artists worldwide and we are fortunate to be able to feature two of the best in the Mythos Murders: Italian Davide L. Marescotti and American J.B. Lee.

Davide L. Marescotti

Born in October 1979, he followed his passion by attending the Art High School and various comics courses and schools before attending the workshop of the Bonelli illustrator, Giovanni Talami.

Over the years he has worked as an illustrator for various Italian, German, English and American publishing houses, including Dreamlord Press and Raven Distribution with internal illustrations on “The Grand Grimoire of Cthulhu Mythos Magic”, “Pulp Cthulhu”, “Horror on the Orient Express” etc. and for the thirteenth release of the Game book of “Lone Wolf - The Plague Lords of Ruel”, amongst others.

After having taught some comics courses in public schools and municipal structures, he is currently a teacher at the Nuova Scuola Chiavarese del Fumetto in Basic Drawing, Professional Comics and Master courses and supervises the comic series “The Darkwinged” as a Graphic Editor.

J.B. Lee

J.B. Lee lives deep in the backwoods of West Virginia, where he has resided in one house or another since he was thirteen. He retired after working for the Kroger Company for 33 years, and now paints the occasional picture, composes the occasional melody, or even writes a story now and then.

Since he was six he has been fascinated with that branch of horror that Lovecraft termed “the weird” - and all his creative attempts, in every field, are inspired by that fascination.  He has entirely too many books, cds, and goofy novelty shirts.

He became a Christian on March 5, 1985, and is currently the pastor of the Hughes Creek church of God, where he emphasizes the law of Christ above all else.

the Wind Walker

Ithaqua, also known as the Wind-Walker or the Wendigo, is an entity in the Cthulhu Mythos. The titular creature debuted in August Derleth's short story, "The Thing That Walked on the Wind", which was inspired by Algernon Blackwood's 1910 tale, "The Wendigo".

In The Mythos Murders, our main depiction of Ithaqua was inspired by this painting by Davide L. Marescotti.
