Ryan Purcell

Ryan Purcell is a Director of Photography based out of Seattle Washington.

His years of film work around the globe have given him an observer’s eye, a desire to understand the other, and continues to show him new ways to reach people through visual story telling.

His earlier positions in the industry taught him the importance of even the smallest details in art direction, and the strong emotion that incredible lighting can evoke. Having the opportunity to have worked under such master D.P.’s as Vilmos Zsigmond and Haskel Wexler, influenced him greatly.

He has shot a dozen feature films and a lot of short content, ranging from festival bound short films to commercials for clients such as Ford, the NBA, Amazon, Xbox and more. His work has taken him across the world, from Africa, to Australia, from Los Angeles to Indonesia.

He is passionate about film as a narrative medium and continually pursues projects of all kinds, collaborating with both veterans and new young innovators of the industry. 

He loves Telecasters, a good novel, a gutsy Spanish red, and can whip up a mean curry on short notice.
